ACT PREP & PSYCHOLOGY

ACT PREP:
We will start the week with a speaker about the importance of community service and involvement.
We will also finish up our resumes this week and discuss reference letters.
Mid week, we will take the Science portion of the ACT, and review and discuss it Thursday and Friday.

PSYCHOLOGY:
We are beginning chapter 7, Adolescence.
This is a very long chapter, and we will be discussing it over the next 3 weeks.
We will cover several topics in this chapter including:
     Society views, adult views, and adolescent views
     Personal development during adolescence
          physical changes, changes in thinking, moral development changes, personality changes
     Sexuality
          sexual attitudes and sex roles
     Social Development
          family, relations, peer groups
         

PSYCHOLOGY & ACT PREP

PSYCHOLOGY:

We are studying chapter 7: Altered States of Consciousness
We will have a review sheet Wednesday and an open note test on Thursday.


ACT PREP:

I assigned leadership topics last Friday, and we will work on those Wednesday-Friday.
We did the ACT English practice test Monday and will review it Tuesday.

ACT Prep

This was a great first week back with my new ACT Prep students.
They are learning about what to expect when they take the ACT.
Remember the first time or two of taking it, is to simply to get your feet wet and find out where you need your biggest areas of improvement.
I encourage ALL 10th graders to go ahead and take the ACT as soon as they can!
We took a math practice exam Thursday and Friday....can't wait to see how they scored on Monday!
Jan 12-19, we will review our math answers and then talk about what it takes to be a leader!

Psychology

Great first week back!
We are taking notes on Chapter 12:  Motivation & Emotion.
We had a guest speaker Friday....THANK YOU Mr. Don Simmons for sharing your words in hopes of "motivating" us to make good decisions.
Jan. 12-19, we will continue Chapter 12 and test on it near the end of the week!

ACT Prep

This week we toured Troy University and found out some wonderful things about what all Troy has to offer!
We are working on math problems for the ACT and will go  over them on Thursday.
Friday, I will introduce the class to the Greek alphabet!

PSYCHOLOGY

We are in Chapter 8: Sensation & Perception
We have many things to cover in this chapter, and an open note test is scheduled for next Thursday, December 11.

Friday-Tuesday (December 12-16), we will review for our final exam.
Final is on Thursday December 18.

ACT PREP

Thank you to Mrs. Holly Anderson for coming to ACT Prep this week for some math tips.
We also did an English practice test this week and talked about transitions.

PSYCHOLOGY

We are finishing Chapter 6 and will have an open note test on Thursday!

Psychology:

We are doing Chapter 6 "Body & Behavior"
We will discuss the nervous system, how the brain works, the endocrine system, and heredity and the environment.
We will test on Chapter 6 near the end of next week.

ACT Prep:

We will do one of the English ACT practice tests and review it this week. We will also get ready for our mock interviews.

ACT & PSYCHOLOGY

We are reviewing science words that are often seen on the ACT
We will also discuss the importance of manners and interviewing.

PSYCHOLOGY:
Vocab words for Chapter 10 were due today.
We will do a handout and review Tuesday and Wednesday.
Open note TEST on Chapter 10 on Thursday!
